Another Emma Mary Success and Happy Canada Day!



Heather P has completed her version of the Emma Mary quilt and what an amazing effort it is!  It is so interesting to see the various interpretations of one theme. Heather's colours dance around the quilt!

Despite having said I would not begin any new projects I must confess I have succumbed to this one honouring 150 feisty and notable Canadian women.  Each block is linked to the story of a particular woman with three new blocks published each week on this site.

The blocks are only available for a short period but will be available on CD at a later date.  If you like red and white and half square triangles this is a project for you.  Everyone would know Lucy Maude Montgomery who wrote the Anne of Green Gables stories. She is honoured with this simple block-





The project is part of the 150th  birthday party celebration on July 1. Canada is celebrating 150 years since Federation and my Canadian family are planning a big party so I will be there! Not sure how many quilt blocks will go with me! Any volunteer  block makers out there?


One Canadian group is using the quilt for charity and exemplify the positive reasons as to why we are quilters. Read their story-
