Pink Project

I have come across this beautiful easy project for lovers of quilting. It is quick and easy. I made one in a day. I had all the requirements at home so didn't cost anything besides the pink "sharpie"

It is designed by Helen Goddard and supports the McGrath Foundation. It is a small wall hanging and depicts love and hope. The end result can be donated to the Foundation or gifted to a person with breast cancer. The camellias have the McGrath Foundation logo  in them and depicts love through the flowers and the vase and the bird of hope. It is a simple design done on calico and using a pink "Sharpie"pen for the outline. It can be done easily on a domestic machine. She provides the design and quilting designs and a support video on her Facebook page. The link is "The Pink Project" by Helen Goddard

Bus Trips are a Quilters Dream Day Out

Once again Evelyn and her team have managed a perfect outing for us heading to Geelong and four amazing shops to explore and spend all our money.  Enjoy the photos of the happy smiling faces!

And of course there was a blowfly ready to pounce on Kay but she was ready
with yet another paper hat solution!

A special thanks to Sue's husband Mike, our fantastic bus driver who

once again delivered us safe and sound!

Saturday Busy Day

My apologies for my attempts at blogging. I like to think it was blogspot that was uncooperative not my failings.

Anyway I am having another go as I am not one to give up.

First of all welcome back Andrea who rejoined yesterday. She has had a difficult time with her father who has been unwell but fortunately is on the road to recovery.

Annie is in to mini world. She declared she had finished a quilt, so lovely. She shared her plans on making other mini mini quilts. Oh her patience!

We did have bets on when Judy A would start sewing as she does enjoy a chat. We all lost as she spent the day cutting out!!

As I said in my failed attempts at blogging "Anytime is show and tell time" .
Robyn is ready for a shopping trip

This is mine. It is a Blue Heron done from a kit and raw edge appliqued. It was all batik fabrics.

Lyn S has been busy. It is great to see such a variety of jelly roll quilts after the "lesson" by Janette. You inspired us Janette thank you.
Have you got anything to share with the group. We are all eager to learn new skills or renew skills.

Show and Tell is Anytime

Members are being very prolific. It is so good to see people come along on Tuesday's and Saturday's eager to share what they have made. Each time a new item is brought along we will try very hard to place it on the blog for all to see.

The black and white quilt belonged to Joy and will be our raffle quilt at our stall in November for the Street Festival.

Evelyn is proudly showing the baby quilt she made for her daughter's friend in England.
Just look at the big grin

News From Our October Meeting

There are many things to report with our group so get involved and enjoy the fun!

Bus Trip
The Bus trip is coming up on the 21st October, heading towards Geelong. We will be visiting the Bellarine Sewing CentreA Little DifferentJiddi’s Patch and Amitie Textiles in Torquay (which has a new cafĂ©).  The cost will be approximately $55.

Sunbury Street Life Festival – Saturday 19th November
We have confirmed our booking for the festival which will be held in O’Shanassy Street. Sheila would like some volunteers on the day between the hours of 10.00 am and approximately 4.00 pm.

Volunteers will stitch, answer queries and hand out cards etc.  As we are not only a quilting group it was suggested that other forms of needlework should also be demonstrated on the day.

Christmas
The venue for our Christmas dinner is still being investigated.

Those members wishing to participate in the Christmas raffle blocks can purchase blocks at 50c each from Evelyn.  The blocks should be embroidered with a Christmas design.  Suggested thread was a multi-coloured DMC 4519.  Each completed block will be exchanged for a raffle ticket and the winner or winners will each receive a selection of blocks.  This takes place at our last meeting in December.

For the annual swap members have been asked to make something that’s handy for a sewer i.e. sewing pouch, thread catcher etc.  Those contributing will be allowed to select something in return.

2018 Quilt Show.
For various reasons members have agreed that we delay the 2018 Quilt show to 2019 and also plan the Quilt-In for 2020.  We will revisit this issue in 2019.

Busy Fingers

Evelyn and Sheila brought along their projects from  Mrs Martin workshop.
Great job!

This is Evelyn's

And Sheila's work!

Sue spent the evening helping Sheila sort some embroidery cotton that had been donated to her!
From chaos comes order!

And finally a close up of Judy' Vs quilt which had featured in previous post.

Show and tell

Judy V and I have been busy.  Don't say I never finish anything!  Click on any pictures if you want to enlarge them.

This circle flying geese quilt is a wedding gift for my daughter's friend in the UK.

My son's friend, Callum, started making this rag quilt with his nan and he asked me if I'd finish it for him.  I assumed that poor nan had died and I agreed.  I met her a couple of weeks later fit and well in the supermarket.  But I finished the quilt!

Mooch loves quilts so I made this quilt using scraps in the hopes that I could finally close my scrap drawers. Lovely, pictured on the quilt doesn't love quilts but she's not letting Mooch anywhere near it!  Poor Mooch!  I've started a new scrappy quilt for Mooch.  My scrap drawers still don't close.

Judy has made lots of jelly roll quilts and they're all fantastic!  I'm always amazed that a little jelly roll can make such a decent sized quilt and they all look so different.  These quilts were all quilted by Kerrie Thomas from Black Forest Quilting.
