First Workshop

A big shout out to Janice who prepared and gave advice and help during the workshop. She  had prepared the kit for each person, so a big thank you. Many of us had done embroidery before and  knew the basics of how to make some of the stitches but somehow mine, never look like those made by Janice. People came prepared bringing along lamps to help get the small intricate stitches to look similar to those made by Janice. Well done everyone. It is was not a one off night and we can work on this over the next few weeks ending up with a sampler pincushion .

Welcome to Lynne Walker who was visiting us for the first time.

Reminder next week is a meeting night so if you have any issues or need anything discussed at the meeting contact Robyn to place it on the agenda. All welcome.

Just look at the concentration on the faces of everyone!

If you have ideas for workshops or activities please let Robyn know who is keen to have an interesting and eventful year.

A New Year Begins

Last night saw the first meeting for the year, everyone was Covid Free and checked in. There had been a few isolations over the break but all good.

The talk was about the exciting things planned for this year. To begin with there will be an embroidery workshop for those that are interested. It will be held on a Tuesday night. Confirmation emails will be sent out once all is finalized.

Margaret attended a Sit and Sew at Macedon run by Kerry in aid of the Macedon Scouts. The colour was great and a photo does not do it justice. She had quilted it herself using her embroidery machine which was very impressive. Well done. She did admit to having to do a bit of unpicking but well worth it. She had used some new plastic gadgets ( no idea what they are called) to secure her quilt sandwich instead of safety pins. I am sold!

There was a mini workshop going on with those people keen on embroidery and here you can see Rosie working out a way of organizing her Cottage garden threads.

Some of you may recognize these two! It is Glo and Esme who were spotted at a Sunday Sit and Sew. They have both moved away from Sunbury and no longer attend but keep in touch with members

These two princesses were at the same Sit and Sew so a good way to catch up with friends.

Mary has spent some time knitting lately however -  who said we have to make quilts? Mary turned this top into a doona cover. Such a good idea.  I don't need any quilts and through the summer don't have one on the bed so may a doona cover!

Happy New Year One and All

Christmas has come and gone, the New Year has come and gone but alas Covid is still here,. in numbers we could not have dreamt about. However we must look forward to doing the things we enjoy in a safe a way as possible. We will be at the mercy of the Neighbourhood House and the Salvation Army who may impose restrictions so keep a look out for information

I would like to welcome any new members who may not be on an email list yet.

Our Tuesday nights begin on the 18th January and is then weekly.

Saturday's begin on the 12th February and will be second and last Saturday of the month.

Whilst in Western Australia in the small town of Northampton, near Kalbarri I happened upon the sign saying museum. The town had been recently hit by the cyclone and there was still considerable devastation and many homes and buildings destroyed.

Imaging my surprise when I went in, at no charge to a dusty shed!
