Tuesday 30th August

Another cold and wet night but it doesn’t stop the quilting girls from attending. A few random photos and some show and tell.

Annie working on her Shashiko she started on a recent trip to NZ.
.

Sheila brought along her finished quilt for her granddaughter, look at that beautiful quilting. Sheila  also demonstrated the use of scraps for the back.
.

Random photos of the ladies sitting doing what you do, lots of chatter and sewing.

Rosie brought along her nearly completed Letters to My Daughter Quilt, she has made this from scraps from her stash. Isn’t it beautiful, .it has tempted a few of us to have a go.  She also showed a nifty way to store the completed panels after sewing and ironing.

What’s On

If you have anything like this you think we would be interested in, please email a photo to me so we can keep up to date with what’s on.

August Retreat

What a weekend we had at the August retreat Gisborne , put 8 women together and lots of food, fun and entertainment. Oh and add the sewing into that.

Annie brought us a project which we all had bit of input in (as you do on retreat ) didn’t it turn out beautifully

Janice worked on her Christmas tree skirt

An appliqué quilt brought in by Lynne also a quilt quilted, I wonder who the lucky recipient of this one will be?

Robbie and Lynne just relaxing, doing it at their own pace.

Rosie started a bag project and brought along a ufo embroidery quilt to finish off.

A few photos of us doing what we do best over the weekend, whether it was sewing, talking, playing or googling on the iPads or just relaxing.  This was one on the best ones I have been on.  Thank you to all the attendees who made my retreat a restful one after my hip replacement, you help was appreciated. To the newbies Lynne and Sandra I hope you had a great time.

Our AGM night

Our AGM night. Great  to see so many people at our meeting. A big thank you to all the people who have stepped up to take a role in the 2022/23. We wish you all the best for the coming year and look forward to lots of fun and interesting activities.

Many people have been busy. It is so good to see such a wide selection of activities that we all do.

This is a free BOM from Piecing the Past. Sheila made this for her sister's 70th birthday. It is all needle turned. She spent a long time quilting this on a domestic machine. This does not show in a picture. On the outer green border there are birds.

Fiona is tackling a cross stitch which will be stunning when it is finished
Gail made this it is so interesting. We were all looking for the blocks but she explained that it was made out of scraps and had been pieced on the diagonal. It looked very effective.
Janice has started her next project -  number 1 of 80 hand pieced blocks. Good luck!
Lynne Walker aka the bag lady had made a fantastic bag. She is attending the retreat this week end and has made it to take with her. The colours were great and it was a very useful size

Judy V likes making these baby toys so has made so many, well done.

It was great to see Anne McWaters , only 4 weeks out form a hip replacement looking so well and walking so well too
