Final Saturday for the Yeaar

It was great to have a good turnout for our last Saturday for 2018. There were a range of projects, many nearing completion. Di was busy finishing her FMQ and on to binding, Gail's bag finally took shape, now all is left is the binding. I am up to FMQ my last  of the children's quilts I have been working on forever and my Christmas gifts are done.

I have included a small sample of the fabulous work that Andrea has been working on for 11 months working several hours each day. I believe the quilt is to be gifted - how can she part with it! All the work was done by hand she should be so proud of it. Well done. Make sure you zoom in on the hand quilting.

We have asked people to bring along their early quilts. I wasn't terribly proud of my early attempts. Di brought along her second quilt, again another all done by hand. She has had it displayed in her home, I would be proud to do so, it was great

Some time ago I purchased a pattern for a wall hanging. As I was laid up for several weeks this year I had planned some embroidery work to keep me occupied. I have used the same pattern so really got my money's worth and made 5 in total in different colours. Before the addition of the borders and binding it wasn't very interesting. Just shows what different colours can do.

Lastly the last two of my children's quilts for some very deserving children but I bet being kids they would rather have Lego. The owls are for a 2 year old and the Sunbonnet Sue for a 7 year old.

Last of all I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas. Apparently we are supposed to give our needles and fingers a rest (according to Ron) but hey if you have the time Happy Stitching and best wishes for the New Year when we will meet again and start a whole new bunch of projects, maybe tackle things I bought on bus trips with such good intentions. Rest up for a busy and productive year in 2019

Celebrations

A BIG THANK YOU TO ROBYN AND JANICE FOR ORGANISING OUR
CHRISTMAS DINNER!

,

Once again we enjoyed a very delicious meal at Sunanta's Thai Restaurant.
Presents and raffle prizes kept us all happy and some people got more than their fair share.  I say no more!

The usual people misbehaved as you will see from the photos but after all it is Christmas and time to celebrate friendships, good times and many finished projects!

Thanks to those who have taken on organising roles within the group. Without you we cannot continue.  We must give special thanks to our president, Sheila, who keeps us quite organised and on the right path!

Have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year.
Come back in January with new
vigour  to finish all those UFOs!

The Night Before Christmas Quilting style

'Twas the night before Christmas,
And the quilts were not made.
The threads were all tangled, the cookies delayed.
The stocking weren't hung, the pantry was bare.
The poor weary Quilter, was tearing her hair.
Stacks of fat quarters, tipped over in streams.
Visions of Log Cabins, had turned into dreams.

When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
But a bus full of quilters with all of their gear.
They went straight to work with just a few mutters,
Sorting and stitching and brandishing cutters.
The patterns emerged from all of the clutter,
Like magic the fabrics arranged in a flutter.
Log Cabins, Lone Stars, Flying Geese & Bear Tracks
Each quilt was a beauty-even the backs.

Her house how it twinkled, her quilts how they glowed.
The cookies were baking, the stockings were sewed.
Their work was all done, so they folded their frames,
And packed up their needles, without giving their names.
They boarded the bus, and checked the next address.
More quilts to be made, another quilter in distress.

She heard one voice echo, as they drove out of sight,
Happy quilting to all and to all a good night!

Could this be us?

Thank you Lyn for sending the enclosed photo. It gives us an idea of what a church could look like when draped with quilts - gorgeous.
