Hi everyone,

Well what great long weekend we had.  Friday - Sunday with a fun group of 10 Ladies at Gisborne retreat.

We laughed, talked, ate lots , some of us managed to get some sewing in but most of all we relaxed and did what we wanted to do.  Of course the obligatory visit to the quilt shop.

I have added a few photos below of some of the projects in progress on the weekend.

I made this quilt all because I brought a new doona cover and needed a quilt to match the colour.

Di made a bag she did do other things but the photo opportunity didn’t come up

 

Cheryl completed this beautiful tulip quilt, one more border then on to the quilter

Wednesday 8th November

 I have been a bit slack so a big sorry. 

We have a couple of photos from a previous week.

Purple one of my favourite colours. This pattern is complicated, and it takes a lot of concentration to get the pattern correct

The first Tuesday in November. Always a great day but also a quilting night. A time to have a laugh and a few made a hat to wear for the occasion. Now I have to apologise as the photos are not the best. I promise I had had nothing to drink and not everyone is represented. We had a terrific night with a feed of chicken and salad so thanks Jancie and Robyn for arranging this. For those that were into games there was a table of games which is a great chance to get to know new members. Others sat, sewed, chatted and continued eating! Now if you want to sack me as photographer I will understand>

 

Over a number of years, we have kept up a tradition of adding a hexagon to a wall hanging depicting the year we joined Sunbury Stitchers.

 Tuesday 11th October 

Another great night at Sunbury stitchers.

We had 10 members attend tonight and here are some beautiful show and tell.

Rosie brought along her Thimbleberry blocks to show us can’t wait for the finished quilt.

Lynne showed us another of her amazing bags this time a back pack.

Meeting Night 4th October

 A great night with 16 people attending. Well done everyone, the lighter nights have drawn us out. While Robyn conducted the meeting everyone was busy sewing and behind was a lovely spread of goodies to have with a cuppa. 

Thanks to Margaret M for getting the new hangers, yes, they are only coathangers but do they make a difference to my poor photography and also helps short people who cannot hold the quilts high enough. The quilts were hung for everyone to see.

Cheryl brought along a top, such a good feeling when it is finished. The colours suit the design well.

Janice must have spent her recent holidays sewing. There was a need as twins are expected next month (not by Janice) and there is already an 18month old in the family so all will have a quilt, The design works well and is great to see in different colour tones. Who gets the lovely Christmas Tree skirt? It is ready to take a very big tree,

Lyn has completed many quilts. It is always great to see a pattern that you know you wouldn't have picked yourself and see it come to life. The end result was beautiful. Within the quilt there are many subtle patterns and designs. The second top is ready to be quilted.

Margaret W had used a colour wheel to choose her colours. Well done the colours blend so well. I always plan to do that one day. Margaret pieced and Tracey quilted it beautifully.

 

Chrissy from Chrissies Timeless Treasures Comes to Sunbury stitchers, and what a fantastic workshop it was. 9 members attended the workshop and had a very relaxed informative time.  

We learnt how to make a stained glass block completely hand sewn. 

Chrissy brought along some treasures from her beautiful Ballan shop.

Robbie asked us to bring our completed blocks in on Tuesday.

Thanks for organising it Robyn and committee, also a big thank you to Chrissy who made us all a little jealous with her talk about her up coming trip itinerary to Hawaii hope you enjoy the break.
